Sainsbury's
Much of our longer term energy use thinking derives from our work with Halsall and J
Sainsbury. This on-going programme aims to achieve a 20% energy cut, 20% capital cost cut and 20% operating cost
cut in all refurbishments. The success of this programme has played a highly
significant role in helping Sainsbury’s to achieve a further 25% cut in CO2
emissions by 2012, having already achieved a 20% cut from 1997 to 2005.
New supermarket clients, Asda, Morrison's and Lidl were interested in
us because of our retail credentials, each as keen as the other to drive down energy
costs, capital costs and running costs. Our work for Lidl and Aldi commenced with
low carbon pre-planning advice and how to ‘green’ their standard specifications.
ASDA concentrated on the efficiency of our processes and designs and are engaging
with our sustainability team to identify deliverable sustainability to planners.
