RED has provided MEP consultancy services to DigiPlex for this conversion project to create one of Sweden’s greenest and safest colocation data centres. The site located in Upplands Vasby, between Stockholm city and Arlanda airport.
The data centre will be split into seven phases creating seven separate data halls. The second phase of the project providing 1,050m2 of IT space and 1500kW of IT load has been completed and work has commenced on phase three. The project will achieve over 6,000m2 of net technical space at an average load density of 1,600W/m2. The data centre cooling comprises highly energy efficient indirect mass air free cooling systems.
- This new data centre in Stockholm is reducing energy use dramatically through the clever integration of control systems to reduce infrastructure energy load
- The data centre uses just 3% of the power consumed by the servers in keeping them cool
- The facility is cooled by more than 60 indirect evaporative cooling (IEC) units delivering ‘free’ cooling using process fans alone for most of the year
- It is estimated that this data centre solution will return an additional 10% in energy savings, on top of the savings delivered by cooling the data centre using indirect evaporative coolers – which could be as much as £50,000 per year
