I am a HR Assistant at RED, I am responsible for general HR administrative support including onboarding and recruitment. I also support the Graduate Scheme recruitment and the RED Wellness Initiative. At University, I studied BSc Sport & Exercise Science followed by MSc in Sociology of Sport & Exercise Science. In my studies I particularly enjoyed the people-focused modules, which led me to my career in HR.
I can see a lot of parallels between encouraging women into sport and encouraging women into traditionally 'male-dominated' industries, such as engineering. We really need to start challenging the status quo and ensuring that women can firstly gain entry to these types of industries as well as the ability to have a successful career.
I think it is essential to promote women in engineering; increased diversity in the workplace is crucial to the success of a business. I am proud to see RED taking a pro-active approach to this through the Ellxengineers initiative.
