Quality, Health & Safety Manager -

South East

An Exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality, Health & Safety Manager ideally from a building services consultancy background, looking to join an exciting and expanding company now delivering multidisciplinary commissions for global clients.

The role will require management and further development of the company’s existing QA Management and Health & Safety System, together with the leadership and engagement of management and project teams to maintain safety and technical rigor within day to day business practices.

Role Requirements

  • You have proven experience of developing and owning the Quality and H&S functions end-to-end
  • You have experience with the facilitation of requirement gathering, defining acceptance criteria and coaching others on QA principles
  • You have the ability to drive quality and H&S improvements across the board, in the rigour of technical documentation, consistency in approach and against policy
  • You have an understanding of audit techniques and ability to identify the most effective techniques and tools to use
  • Understanding of Quality Assurance strategy and operational delivery principles
  • Measurable record as primary point of contact for QA Management
  • Have robust knowledge and understanding of the BSI or ISO 9001/14001:2015 standards
  • Balanced strong communicator
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral
  • In depth experience of delivering robust QA systems within the construction or consulting industry
  • Experience of having worked for an international consultancy (desirable)
  • Sound knowledge & working application of key QA issues and legislation
  • Knowledge of MS office applications word, excel etc
  • Ability to use software-based Quality and H&S platforms
  • Good understanding of British Standards
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Presentation skills
  • Leadership and mentoring skills
  • Fluent English speaker (essential) with other language skills (desirable)
  • Chairing/facilitation of meeting skills
  • Masters or Project Management Degree in engineering or appropriate QA/H&S discipline or have sufficient equivalent experience
  • At least 7 years’ experience in a similar role with a focus on QMS and H&S
  • BSI or ISO accreditation
  • Project management in cross function teams
  • Proven history of Quality and H&S management delivery
  • Stable career background

Specific Business Understanding

  • Background in consulting or construction preferred
  • Good understanding of QA within an international business / consultancy

Role Responsibilites

  • Review existing QA and H&S systems and compare with industry best practice recommending changes for implementation to ensure fit for purpose and fit for projects systems are in place to protect the business and drive continuous improvement
  • Oversee subconsultants approach to QA and H&S to ensure alignment on subcontracted delivery
  • Take a management role in the delivery and technical rigour of the QA processes and systems in coordination with the engineering teams
  • Day to day management of the Group’s Quality and H&S systems
  • Drive the use and adherence to the QMS to ensure compliance across all areas
  • Embed Quality, H&S in all business processes
  • Ensure tracking of quality issues with regular reviews and audits
  • Set the strategic direction of Quality, H&S for the company
  • Ensure all project and non-project compliance requirements are captured consistently to a high standard
  • Lead, coach and mentor team colleagues and project teams to continuously improve
  • Create a learning environment regarding QA and H&S with engagement across all business levels
  • Set the quality QA KPI’s and metrics across all business sectors
  • Align reporting to the Net Promoter Score (Qualtrics) system for QA KPI’s
  • Drive adoption of QA policies and procedures, including technical rigour, designing and implementing end-to-end approach
  • Ensure quality and increase efficiency of QA outputs and delivery as an integral part of the business process
  • Undertake responsibilities for the QMS. (Quality Management Systems)
  • Ensure compliance is kept in line with QM and H&S standards and procedures
  • Ensure management of internal and external audits and certification renewals
  • Address all quality related queries and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Prepare and update quality and H&S records and coordinate with colleagues and project teams.
  • Conduct QA Management Team Meetings and record actions and outcomes
  • Present actions and outcomes of QA Management Meetings to the local Management Teams and Company Board
  • Delivering Internal CPD’s and training to colleagues on QA
  • Carry out Quality, H&S Inductions for all new employees
  • Carry out project related audits and status reviews as required to create a reasonable surety that systems are being followed on a business as usual basis
  • To arrange coordinate and manage external audits
  • Provide aesthetic and informative Quality and H&S Reports
  • Develop and promote Quality Assurance and safety excellence in design practices within the business
  • Team leadership and staff development/mentoring
  • Conduct Quality Management and H&S risk management analysis
