Senior Electrical Engineer -
London
Red Engineering Design (RED), a fast-growing group active in the Mechanical and Electrical engineering of data centre and complex buildings, is looking for a fully experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to be based in our London office.
Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the project lead of medium size projects. Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc from BSRIA stage 1 through to stage 6.
- Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
- Surveys tests and reports on existing electrical installations
- Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
- Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client
- Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams
- Carries out engineering calculations to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
- Responsible for technical content and accuracy of Trainee, Graduates and Engineers
- Mentoring junior staff and team members
- Validation and checking of designs and specifications
- Support the delivery of projects in accordance with the expectations of the RED Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective.
- Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint.
- Managing and forecasting fee spend ensuring that work is kept to budget.
- Ensure that personal CPD is maintained and up to date
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients
Role Requirements:
- BEng, MSc
- MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND + appropriate experience or equivalent
- Either (preferably) achieved or working towards Chartered Eng status
- Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the commercial/workspace sector
- Competent in specification design/drawing for several building types
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Capable of presenting engineering concepts to clients and other project stakeholders
- Interested in developing knowledge of other disciplines to represent RED in a multi-discipline basis
- Able to deliver work to a high quality on time
- Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
- Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc
- Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
- Good understanding of BS standards
- Good understanding of the BREEAM, LEED, WELLNESS & NABERS accreditation processes
- Good understanding of industry design guides.
- Have a working understanding of specialist computer-aided design (CAD), building information modelling (BIM) and other software packages to design all the systems required for the project
- Ability to use Amtech
- Ability to use Dialux Evo
- Ability to prioritise own workload
- Ability to liaise & coordinate with the other services disciplines
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Managerial Skills
- Ensure that personal CPD is maintained and up to date
