Senior Electrical Engineer

London, Guildford, Bicester and Newcastle

RED are an expanding international M&E consultancy, with a proven track record in low energy design, focused on providing excellent design solutions to clients.

We now seek experienced Senior Electrical Engineers to be based within any of our London, Guildford, Bicester and Newcastle offices. You will have experience in the delivery of European data centres and mission-critical projects, along with other sector experience including process pharmaceutical, healthcare, commercial, labs and/or clean rooms would be desirable.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for running of medium size projects. Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc.  
  • Lighting design using Dialux
  • MV/LV MCC design including, SLD preparation, breaker sizing, overload settings etc.
  • MV/LV cable sizing
  • Containment sizing
  • Emergency lighting design to current regulations
  • Fire-alarm design to current regulations
  • Preparation of electrical designs and draughting of same (lighting/floor plans, etc.)
  • Checking of electrical drawings
  • Site work, dealing with clients/electrical contractors
  • Attendance at site meetings
  • Estimating values of both completed works and where required approximate values of any additional works
  • Snag list preparation (of installed works)

 

Role Requirements

You will need to possess the following professional and technical expertise:

  • BEng/MSc, and have sufficient experience
  • MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND + appropriate experience or equivalent
  • Working towards Chartered Eng status
  • Familiar with electrical engineering design software suites such as Amtech, Easypower, PTW etc.
  • Experienced in BIM/REVIT
  • Familiar with MV & LV power distribution
  • Fully conversant with current Irish Regulations e.g. ET-101:2008 (National Rules for Electrical Installations)
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc
  • Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent communicator
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Proficient in CAD
  • Background in consulting or construction preferred.
  • Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
  • Act in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines of the Group
