We are seeking an Assistant Project Controller to join our Finance team in the Newcastle office to support project managers in tracking the financial performance of their projects, relaying key messages about its evolution, ongoing risks and opportunities. You will be based in the Newcastle Office with occasional travel to the London/Oxford offices.

Role Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of EMEA Data Centre Business Controller, you will support the project controlling team with the projects’ financial performance management:
  • Assist with project related planning, forecasting & reporting, managing a subset of EMEA Data Centre projects.
  • Support the project controllers with the preparation of the Sector Dashboard
  • Work in collaboration with the offshore project accounting team (based in the Philippines) to ensure project transactional finance activities including billing and purchasing cycles are up to date
  • Prepare timesheet man loaders for time and material recharge projects
  • Prepare subcontractors and subconsultants accruals on a monthly basis as per the accounting rules
  • Working with intercompany partners to reflect project specific interco transactions correctly in group systems
  • Support EMEA Data Centre sector with transactional finance queries driving to resolve problems in a timely manner
    Record Business Booked in company systems on a monthly basis
  • Assist project controllers in updating projects master data in company systems
  • Assist EMEA Data Centre Admin team in the creation of new projects, when necessary

Role Requirements

  • Studying for a professional qualification
  • 2 years’ experience with a minimum of 1 year in an equivalent role
  • Good understanding of basic project accounting
  • Previous experience working within the consulting or construction industry ideal but not essential
  • Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy
  • Act in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines of the Group
  • Dynamic and resourceful, with strong initiative mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral
  • Easily fit into multidisciplinary and cultural teams
  • Ability to prioritize own workload, and work to strict deadlines
  • Defends points of view and does not hesitate to support own opinions with detailed and clear arguments when challenged
  • Excellent knowledge in office automation applications (Office 365, mainly Excel), with knowledge of SAP (ideally SAP 4/HANA).
  • Knowledge of IFRS 15 revenue recognition
