RED is market-leading Engineering Design consultancy specialising in Built Environment EPCMV projects worldwide with unrivalled expertise in delivering innovative and sustainable solution.

RED is looking for a Process/Project Engineer to be involved in Life Sciences and Industrial projects in a variety of sectors, including pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, chemical, medical devices, waste treatment and food and beverage.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the running of small projects and form part of multidisciplinary project design teams.
  • Researches, develops, designs, and assumes responsibility for design, procurement and CQV of engineering project services for projects in the Life Science and Industrial sectors.
  • Prepares / contributes to feasibility studies, front-end studies and detailed engineering design, including associated capital cost evaluations.
  • Generates PFD’s, P&ID’s and liaises closely with RED piping designers in the development of process equipment layouts.
  • Completes mass, and energy balances preferably using UNISIM software
  • Prepares and maintains project indices
  • Prepares equipment technical specifications, equipment procurement enquiry packages.
  • Liaises with vendors and completes Technical and commercial bid analysis of vendor bids
  • Completes process design and calculations
  • Prepares CQV documentation.
  • Liaises with clients, other members of the design team and contractors on technical and commercial issues
  • Assists clients on the generation of User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Detailed Process Descriptions.
  • Provides process engineering and scientific support to clients
  • Completes site walkdowns and redlines of process plant installations
  • Completes specific site assignment work

Role requirements

  • 2-5 years’ experience in a consulting / project engineering role serving the Life Science industry.
  • BSc/B.E. in Chemical or Bioprocess Engineering, and have sufficient experience
  • Working towards Chartered Eng status
  • Good technical skills and written ability
  • Sustainability / Zero Carbon aware.
  • Commercially aware
  • Innate aptitude for process engineering design techniques
  • Fully conversant with current Irish Regulations
  • Familiar with EU/FDA Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc.
  • Knowledge of AUTOCAD preferable.
  • Highly motivated can-do attitude. Can drive work with limited supervision to high quality standards and meeting delivery timelines.
  • Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Ability to communicate with clients and external contacts
  • Background in consulting or life science manufacturing technical services / project support department preferred
  • Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy
  • Act in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines of the Group
