PROJECT SUMMARY

The FF5 project is a significant milestone for the client, being the largest Data Centre facility under construction in Europe. It involves the construction and technical fit-out of two buildings with a total IT capacity of 54MW in Frankfurt. The project will be BREEAM certified with a Very Good rating. Each building will have three floors, with a 9,000 sqm IT room on each floor. The complex will also include an ancillary office building and a gantry building for critical electrical equipment installation. Outdoor areas with green spaces and an 80-space car park are also planned.

Project collaboration

The project involved collaboration between multiple offices, including Dublin, Guildford, Germany, and Manilla. This approach facilitated the sharing of lessons learned for improved efficiency in future phases and projects.

Meeting Milestones

RED met all submission dates aligned with the client's tendering milestones, ensuring timely information sharing and avoiding delays in the master programme.

District heating strategy

RED reviewed a district heating strategy and developed a scheme to export excess heat from the site for local use and a potential district heating plant in the future.

The RED Stage 4 design pack sets a new benchmark for future designs.
