Red Engineering Design Turkey

Kerim Oktay was the MEP consultant and designer for the new Istanbul Ozyegin University Energy Centre and District Heating/Cooling Project. With campus buildings of over 250,000m2 the system serves academic buildings, student life centres, dormitories and sports centres. Capacity is 15MW cooling and 12MW heating. The project was completed at the end of 2012 and achieved LEED Gold certification.

The full article which can be found on pages 84 and 85 are  a post-completion case study and discussion with Kerim Oktay of RED Engineering Turkey, Dr Mustafa Bilge of MECOM (Contractor) and Demir Savaş of Ozyegin University  (MEP Manager). Feedback from the University is that the energy centre is performing well and doubles as a “laboratory” for the University’s engineering students.
