RED was delighted to take home the “Highly Commended” award for Sustainable Project of the Year, at last night’s MEP Middle East Awards at Waldorf Astoria, the Palm.
The Sustainable Project of the Year category acknowledges those projects designed with sustainability criteria at the forefront, highlighting innovative technologies that have been deployed to create a sustainable environment within the architectural or structural requirements.
The project, Batelco Data Centre in Bahrain, was to deliver an Uptime Tier III Certified Data Centre proving cost effective flexibility for technology expansion multi-tiering and multi-density.
The facility is being built with a 1.3MW (Day One) pre-fabricated data centre, capable of expanding up to 6.5MW of IT capacity on Day Final with the applicable ASHRAE 90.1 and ASHRAE data centre energy efficiency best practices applied to the design.
Successfully led by RED’s in-house Accredited Tier Designers, modern methods of construction were used to reduce environmental impact as well as project time line. The data centre has successfully achieved Tier III Design Certification with Tier III Certified being progressed.
- One of the few data centre facilities in GCC to achieve a PUE of 1.57
- Leading technologies used: VRF, inverter compressors, and heat pipes to reduce energy consumption and green-house gases emissions.
- Facility designed to monitor and control – utilising BMS (Building Management System) and DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) for optimization of operations and maintenance
- Highly efficient chilled water system with elevated temperatures, together with the high efficiency air-cooled chillers, variable speed pumps, to provide long term operational savings especially during part load conditions
