Mark Smith

Mark Smith is Chief Executive Officer of RED Engineering Design, leading the company's global strategy, operations and continued growth as a leading engineering design consultancy for the data centre and built environment sectors.

An Accredited Tier Designer and Chartered Engineer, in 2020 Mark has been awarded Fellowships of both the IET and CIBSE. Mark has 35 years’ experience as a Building Services Engineer and project Director and has worked on a large number of Data Centre and mission critical projects as well as award-winning projects across the UK and Europe, in the commercial, industrial, retail, educational, sports and healthcare sectors. 

In 2026, Mark took on the newly established global role of Chief Executive Officer and will focus primarily on driving the efficiency of operations across our business whilst further facilitating growth and ensuring quality assurance for RED on a global scale.  

Having joined RED in 2015, Mark has been instrumental in the company’s evolution over the past decade. He initially supported the expansion of RED’s European operations before being appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2023. In this role, he has helped drive significant international growth, expand the business into 12 new geographies, and strengthen RED’s position as one of the world’s leading engineering consultancies for data centres and other mission-critical environments.
