From thinking every problem had one correct answer to learning how teamwork shapes solutions - Celine’s story shows the power of embracing the unexpected, human side of engineering.
What did you think engineering would be like before you started?
I thought engineering was maths, calculations and getting the right answer. I expected it to feel very black and white, where every problem had one correct solution.
What surprised you most about working in engineering?
What surprised me most was how much communication and collaboration is involved. Real-life problems are a lot messier, a huge part of the job is understanding people and working together to find a right solution.
What would you say to a younger version of yourself?
I’d probably tell my younger self - well done, you made it into engineering, and you’re enjoying it. We’re going to make mistakes, but we’re going to learn from them and that’s completely okay.
