Celebrating women and girls shaping the future of engineering

We’re celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by recognising the vital role women and girls play in shaping the future of STEM careers.

This year’s global theme, Synergizing AI, Social Science, STEM, and Finance: Building Inclusive Futures for Women and Girls, reinforces the importance of connecting STEM skills with real-world insight, innovation, and opportunity.

At RED, this focus on inclusion is reflected in our commitment to inspiring the next generation of female engineers through our Women in RED, STEM, and IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessible) initiatives.

Over the past year, we’ve strengthened our engagement with schools, universities, and STEM partners to create inclusive pathways that support women and girls to thrive in engineering and across the wider STEM sector. With our STEM programme reaching nearly 12,000 students in 2025, we’ve helped to improve access to engineering careers and build take steps towards building a more diverse future STEM workforce.

We are proud of the progress our STEM and WiRED initiatives have made over the past year. Through hands-on learning, mentoring, and real-world engineering insight, we have supported and inspired women and girls to explore science, technology, and engineering with confidence.
