Infrastructure Peer Review

RED reviewed the electrical infrastructure design and provided a number of engineering options which resulted in reduced cost and a simplification of the design whilst still achieving TUI Tier III certification. These included:

  • Removal of some static switches
  • Rearrangement of HV Ring main units to facilitate simplified cable distribution
  • Review of detailed design calculations led to a reduction in cable and breaker sizes
  • New philosophy for power supplies to cooling units resulted in significant reductions in cabling
  • Change from centralized fuel store requiring huge fuel tanks on Day 1 and extensive pipework distribution to local belly tanks on each generator. This one item saved over $1m
