Projects

University of West England

RED was appointed to provide ICT consultancy for the University of West England’s (UWE) Smart Campus solution.  Initially focused upon the new technology & engineering faculty building, the brief was subsequently widened to adopt a holistic view of the entire UWE building estate

The objectives of the intelligent campus system are:

  • to reduce energy consumption
  • to significantly reduce operating costs (energy and HR)
  • to automate certain Estates and Facilities operations

RED has advised the University on a smart campus technical strategy that will introduce high levels of automation throughout this large and diversely spread campus.

Resulting from a series of stakeholder workshops, UWE has set up procurement exercise and written an early market engagement package for an Intelligent Campus System.  The requirement will appeal to large providers of advance BMS (Building Management Systems) solutions.  It will provide a central management platform to remotely monitor and actively manage all relevant building environments with associated student and management information provision.
